The genesis of BACOF dates back to 2018, when its founder, Dr. Karla Davis-Luster, saw an unfulfilled need in the local business community. As an experienced entrepreneur herself, Karla recognized that small and medium-sized businesses often lacked the necessary resources and connections to thrive. Her vision was not just to create a network but to foster a community where businesses could connect with each other as resources, allies, and friends.

By 2019, the organization launched its grant program, reflecting Karla’s commitment to directly support businesses in need. These grants provided essential capital to member businesses, enabling them to innovate, expand, and contribute positively to the local economy.
Under Karla’s steadfast leadership, BACOF has continued to evolve, staying true to its founding principles while adapting to the changing business landscape. Major milestones include:
– Expansion to over 800 member businesses
– Successful organization of 25 community outreach programs
– Awarding 100 business grants, totaling over $21,000
